I don’t want to sound fanatical, but where the heck do you measure your waist?
People who make clothes say it’s the narrowest part.
Dr Oz the You On A Diet guy says at the navel.
Other’s say just above the navel.
Well……those three places range from 33 to 36 inches – almost healthy to quite risky.
Any thoughts?

I don’t want to confuse the issue, but I recently read ‘just below the navel at the narrowest part’.
Just above the navel – definitely not.
Sometimes the narrowest part is at the navel but not always.
I think I would be inclined to consider the place where, when you sit down, your waist band naturally settles.
Just thought of something. Try this, bend sideways and place your finger at the bend. When you straighten up, measure where your finger is. Since you have to bend at the waist, this should be where you measure.
That’s where I measure but I’ve been reading and hearing that’s not where they mean when they talk about health benefits. It seems like they’re saying “waist” when they mean “abdomen”. I don’t think it’s genetically possible for women in my family to have a 32″ abdomen – not with the well-made Highland stock that I come from!
